Why we started Shore Beginnings
When we moved to the Eastern Shore, our first concern was "what are we going to do when we have another baby?" All of our previous birth experiences were natural. We didn't know a single local friend that had had a natural birth experience in this area. We were so worried about finding a provider who would support our birth choices. I was confident in my body's ability to birth and in my knowledge of the process, but I was not confident in my ability to advocate for myself while in active labor. I wanted to know that I was in the hands of a birth team that supported and encouraged my desire for natural birth. I wanted to trust that they would only make interventions if necessary.
My own fears filled me with the hope of empowering other women to seek their desired birth experience. We hope to build a community that supports birth choices. Because your birth story is just as unique as you are. And you deserve to be supported in whatever birth plan you are hoping for.
